Thompson Falls Dog Park is officially open!! Yesterday, Oct. 31, we held our "Grand Opening" celebration in nonstop rain...and had fun, despite getting drenched! The dogs didn't mind it a bet. Several showed up in raincoats (probably wishing they didn't have to wear them!) and played like kids on an exciting new playground.
The "Potty Pick-up" stations are now installed, as are the "Rules" signs. The dogs and owners who showed up yesterday made fast friends and assured us they would be back again soon.
Thank you to Thompson Falls High School industrial arts class (Mr. Austin Ouellette is the teacher) for making our wonderful "official" wooden park sign. Although it's mounted, it's not quite done; Mr. Ouelette's students are going to make plasma-cut black metal pawprints to go on the sign, which now has black routered letters. Very handsome indeed!
Much work remains to be done on the dog park, and we will be in constant need of funds as we look at expanding the area and replacing the old fence. Please be sure to order a nameplate for your dog, which will be hung on the fence showing your support for this community project. Click here to download the order form.
